Timetable Craft

Course table maker and schedule maker FAQ.

Short answers about this free timetable maker, UBC Workday Excel, waitlists, PNG export, and other-campus files (SFU, Waterloo).

Is my Excel uploaded?

No. Parsing runs in the browser. Closing the tab does not send the file anywhere.

How do I get the Excel from Workday?

Open Workday and sign in. On the home screen click View My Courses. Then click the spreadsheet icon (a grid with an X) next to PDF — not PDF itself. On a computer it is on the right of the blue bar; on a phone it is under the title. Import the .xlsx in Schedule Maker.

Workday home with the View My Courses button circled.
After login: click View My Courses.

On a computer

View My Courses on a computer, with the Excel export icon circled on the right of the title bar.
The three icons sit on the right of the dark blue bar. Click the spreadsheet icon, left of PDF.

On a phone

View My Courses on a phone, with the Excel export icon circled under the title.
The same three icons sit under the title, on the left. Click the spreadsheet icon, left of PDF.

Why is a lab missing from the grid?

If the meeting pattern is blank, add a time first. Then you can place it on the timetable.

How do Active, Waitlist, and Dropped look?

Active uses a solid box, Waitlist a dashed box, Dropped a dotted box. Nothing is placed until you check it on the left.

How are credits counted?

By unique course (subject + number + term). A lecture and its discussion do not double the credits.

Can I edit an imported course?

Yes. Editing updates the in-browser list only. The original Excel is never rewritten.

Is this a timetable maker or a schedule maker?

Both names fit. Timetable Craft is a free timetable maker and schedule maker: you build a weekly course table online, add classes, and export a PNG.

Can I use this as a UBC course table maker?

Yes. Import View My Courses Excel from UBC Workday, or add UBC classes by hand. That is the UBC timetable maker and UBC schedule maker path.

UBC timetable maker overview

Do I need a UBC Excel file?

No. Add any class schedule manually. The UBC Workday import is optional.

Can you import SFU, Waterloo, or other school timetables?

Not as a one-click import yet. Email a sample export from Quest, goSFU, ACORN, Minerva, or any campus portal and we will add the parser. You can still add those classes by hand today.

More campuses

SFU, Waterloo, and other schools: send us your timetable file.

UBC Workday Excel already imports. If you are at SFU, Waterloo, U of T, McGill, or anywhere else, attach a sample export and we will add the parser so your classmates can import too.

What to send

  1. 1

Your school name — SFU, Waterloo, or any campus.

  2. 2

A sample timetable export (Excel, CSV, or the file your portal gives you).

  3. 3

Where you downloaded it — Quest, goSFU, ACORN, Minerva, or similar.

You can strip names and IDs first. A real file is enough for us to add one-click import.
